I am at such a loss for words, that I cannot even think up a title for this post. In a previous post, my boy Jay addressed the Chris Brown/Rihanna situation. I wanted to say something, but for a long time, I never could. I was not sure exactly how I felt, therefore I was slow to give my opinion. Furthermore, I wanted to wait until more facts surfaced. Yes, I read transcripts and saw the pictures, but I still wanted more. I wanted to hear from Rihanna or Chris Brown, who until now has yet to come forward to address what really happened.
It has been my opinion that regardless of what took place, there was a moment for us all to talk about the dangers of domestic violence. There was a moment for Rihanna to step up and give a voice to hundreds of thousands of women who have none. There was a clear opportunity for Chris Brown to not only apologize sincerely, but give a speak on behalf of men who are battling some serious demons. After all that waiting, I come across this.
Here's why I'm mad:
Really though, Chris? Of all the things you could have said, that is what you chose to come up with? After awaiting what you had to say all these months, the best you could do was, "Everybody that's haters, they just been haters". THEN follow it up with, "I ain't a monster".
WHOA!!!!
I am sorry.
Was I the only person who saw those pictures of Rihanna?! She looked pretty monstrous to me and in my opinion, only a true monster could have delivered such treatment. HOWEVER, I am a firm believer that even monsters can be rehabilitated. With that said, I would have had much more respect for C. Breezy if he kept it real and owned up to what he did, instead of promoting his new album, addressing critics as "haters", and denying the fact that he really IS a monster.
Am I missing something here? Does anyone agree? Disagree?

I think you did miss something. I think people may have OD'ed on C. Brown without knowing all the facts. I don't think Chris Brown is a monster, but that's how he was portrayed.
At this point, months later. He has to pick himself up and get back to his life. And that's what he's doing now. Getting back to being the performer and entertainer he has always been.
Without knowing the facts is very important- I have been very careful not to judge him or the situation for that very reason.
He lost a few fans, but for the most part, a lot of them stood by him. With that said, I think he owes his fans (and also the haters) something. Do not make a grand statement about not being a monster, when the last image we have is you beating a girl to a pulp. All these months should have been some deep reflection so when he comes back, people can feel like he is rehabilitated and he's not a monster. Actions speak louder than words. Don't tell us you're not a monster- show us.
He cannot comment on a pending investigation and case. Plus, he doesn't owe us anything, we want to know something. The situation is between him and Rihanna. (Rihanna is a dingbat too)
I don't think Chris is a monster. I think when it comes to domestic violence, both the alleged "perpetrator" and "victim" are BOTH victims, and the story is easy to construe one way or the other. I think everyone got caught up in the hype on this incident, and we've ALL missed something. But, as in every DV situation, outsiders never know what really went down. It's easy to point to a man and call him a monster, and easy to point to a woman as victim. Chris feels attacked by the media, and in truth, he has been, and is rightfully on the defense.
But I do agree, that your first words to the public should not have been on a webcam chillin witcha homeboy. But we must remember, he is not a fully mature and developed man, so we cannot expect his actions to reflect this.
Sheesh Chris Breezy...I love you as a performer..but really? Did he really just post that in an effort to get people to give him some attention? Did he not consult with his publicist? I think the main issue is that Chris Brown doesn't have much going for him in the brains department. That, or he's just young.
