Expectations. We all have them, as we should. Expectations, depending on the bar in which they are set, prevent us from dealing with, listening to, dating and becoming friends with mediocrity. I expect my man to be fine. I expect my man to have a degree. I expect to have intelligent conversation with my peers. I expect to be mentally stimulated. I expect people to be who they say they are.
I do not just expect things of others. I expect a lot from myself. I will not lower my standards for others if I set the bar high for myself. I expect to graduate with another degree. I expect to be successful. I expect to NEVER settle for anything less than what I am worth.
Here's why I'm mad:
People have drastically lowered their expectations with the music industry. I am still trying to figure out who is Soulja Boy, Plies, and all these random artist with the sir name "Lil" and why they have record deals. I do not expect to be someone's bust it baby. I do not expect some man to all of a sudden become superman when he is with me. If you think I will buy the please excuse my hands line, then you must not have expected the slap that is sure to follow.
Now, I am not perfect. I have gotten silly and even walked it out a few times, but for the most part, I will not subject myself to tomfoolery. I mean really, the birdwalk?! Is this what is hot in the streets? If so, WHY?! And who comes up with this stuff?!
We need to expect more from not only ourselves, but these artists, who whether we like it or not, represent us. They are what people see when they turn on the TV. They are what people hear when they turn on their radio.
If these artists do not expect much from themselves, then maybe I am wrong for expecting anything of them.
::shrugs::
Someone has to.

YOOOO!!! You are such a HATER!!! I can sooo see you Bird Walk! HAHAHAHA if you subject yourself to the duty wine then why not lemme see you Bird Walk! The fact of the matter is everyone loves a DONK and wants a superWoman or superman in your case.. With the conditions of this world the recession, homicide, unemployment and the over all bitterness of the world we all look for someone to save us.. whether it is the Big homie in the sky or the girl or guy thats holding you down in this crazy world.. So back to the point KAT! I love you but your still full of shit.. why is it okay to Dutty Wine and do all of them ignorant rain dances but not okay to Bird Walk.. I don't do either but im just saying... Lets not subject ourselves to HIPOCRACY! AND I KNOOOOWWWW you get it IN!
SHUtUP you self-righteous Hypocrite!!! YOU MADDD YOU MADDDD!!! LMAO! I'm a big fan of your blog by the way... every once in a while you should tell us why your happy Kat..for two reasons.. 1. we love to see you smile and 2. cause eventually your gonna have to change your blog name to "Yea Im a Hater" and we like your current title.. HAHAHA!
As usual you hit the points right on mark. As a dancer I feel compelled to move to the hypnotic beat of those songs, but as a woman with self respect, I feel torn when I do. Rap has become sooooo degrading to women...it's a disease that will likely remain uncured for years. One of the remedies ladies and gentlemen: don't support artists who you feel disrespect you, your mother, your sister, or any woman that you cherish.
